When you add a canon.cpm/ijsetup printer, macOS uses AirPrint to connect to the printer or automatically downloads the printer's software (also known as a printer driver). Do not install software from the printer or manufacturer's website; Follow the instructions in one of the tasks below, and macOS prompts you to download the latest software if necessary.
If your printer is AirPrint-enabled, it is compatible with macOS. If your printer is not AirPrint-enabled, you can ensure this with macOS by checking the Apple Support Article Printer and Scanner drivers for Mac.
